Anemometer Diagnostic Cable

The Anemometer diagnostic cable is to help us determine if the trouble is with your weather station’s anemometer, the Transmitter (on Vantage weather stations), or Junction box of your older Classic weather station.

Unplug the anemometer’s cable from the WIND port on the Transmitter or the Junction Box of your weather station.

Plug the diagnostic cable’s connector into the WIND port.

While observing your weather station’s display, press the red button on the diagnostic cable rapidly several times. You should get a wind speed reading between 1 and 20 mph, depending on how fast you push the button.

At the same time, you should see the wind direction’s arrow come around to read due SOUTH (180 degrees), and remain there.

If you get the above wind speed & direction readings, then the problem is somewhere inside the anemometer or in the anemometer cable. Please recheck the cable for breaks and cuts, and the cable plug for loose wires and missing connectors.

If you do not get the above wind speed & direction readings, then the problem is on your Transmitter Board, or (if yours is a cabled weather station) on your Sensor Interface Module, or Junction Box; or, in the console’s cable itself.
